RESTORING THE STATE THEATRE

Thank you PROJECT AUBURN! We all are appreciative to have had Auburn's State Theatre Building be the recipient of this year's program, sponsored by the Auburn Rotary Club and a host of Community Volunteers and Professionals. Come celebrate the completion and witness the illumination of the new marquee on Friday July 11th from 7 to 10pm.
Come see the exterior improvements to the 1930 State Theatre Building! This revitalization effort involved replacement of windows, doors and painting the exterior of the building as well as resurfacing the foyer. This has been followed by the professional installation of a 1937 replication of a new full color tower marquee and canopy over the building's entrance. Both the City of Auburn, though the Auburn Urban Development Authority, and the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center (APPAC) through contributions, matched the cost of this striking visual addition that will now serve as an impressive Downtown landmark.
Since APPAC's incorporation in 2000, as a 501© 3 charitable nonprofit organization, it has been their mission to raise funds necessary for the acquisition, design and reconstruction, of the Auburn State Theater. In addition to live performances and motion pictures the theatre will also serve as a meeting and conference opportunity.
In 2002 the City of Auburn completed a Feasibility Study for the State Theatre location. A Financial Feasibility Study, Supplemental Business Plan and Design Plan were completed as well in 2005. APPAC was awarded a $100,000 Federal grant in addition to money's from the United Auburn Indian Community. In 2006 with the help of many, APPAC purchased the State Theatre Building. Today, APPAC has established an office and staff and a meeting room within the building. After selecting the NTD Architectural Firm, APPAC developed a multi-phased reconstruction plan with a first phase to accommodate 447 seats at a cost of $3.5 million dollars (current estimate). The capital campaign for the interior reconstruction is anticipated to begin by the end of summer.
The illumination of the new marquee is scheduled for 9:30pm in the Big O Tire parking lot on Lincoln Way across from the State Theatre. But plan for a family evening of fun and excitement that begins at 7pm with entertainment, costume contests, music and dancing. Downtown restaurants will be open featuring Marquee Menus. Food and drink will also be for sale on site.
APPAC wishes to thank all who have contributed and worked to make this evening possible. Join us as we applaud the incredible community of Auburn.
